March 11
We had coffee in our room today after buying what we needed at Walmart. Much better than coffee we've had in any restaurant. And the real cream reminded me of the cream in EskDale. Thick like pudding. Pretty darn good.
We had a reservation to play Pickleball this morning. Headed down to play and ended up playing with two women who were very good - Janice and Kathy. I felt like I was playing absolutely awful but we still had fun.
After Pickleball we headed into town for a hike to Lovers Beach. We stopped at a little taco place by the Marina and had tacos and chips with guacamole. The guacamole here is so wonderful. And they give you so much! An order of chips and guacamole is at least two full avocados with the best pico de gallo in the world. Stomachs full, we started our trek to Grand Selmar Resort. Arriving there, we had to request entrance to the beach. They asked us to wait a few minutes and then escorted us through a locked gate and to the beach. What a beautiful place. We walked across the sand toward the rocky granite formation ahead. We could see the trail took us over these rocks but had no idea that we actually had to rock climb. Matt, being the observant scout that he is, figured out where we should put our feet based on the pattern of sand. About half way up, we encountered a local who took it upon himself to direct our every step. It was a bit helpful. He then proceeded to tell us the history of the beach. Once he realized we were carrying no money, he moved on, thank God. My ability to listen was definitely shorten than his ability to talk.
The rock climbing definitely stretched my abilities but it was really fun. We got to the other side and walked through the sand past Divorce Beach to the beautiful Lovers Beach. It was remarkable and special to be there with Matt. We hung out a while and I went in the water with my feet anyway! Just not hot enough to want to swim
Headed back and got through the rocks again. I'm figuring out that if I go butt first on a lot of them, I can scoot myself up with my feet easier than trying to propel myself up with my legs when the handholds are minimal. Once safely through, we started the walk home.
I'm started to run out of gas. I can't tell anything bothers Matt. Ever. He is bullet proof, especially now that his hip doesn't hurt. I begged for mercy and we stopped and shared an ice cream cone and sat a minute. That worked. We got back to the resort with over 20,000 steps on the day.
We sat in the hot tub for a few minutes. Boy did that feel good.
The evening was beautiful with a full moon and a warm breeze. We decided to eat in the restaurant at the resort. We shared a glass of wine, a salad and a pizza. The food was delicious and it was so nice to be together.
Our night together was just like the day. Exquisitely wonderful. I fell asleep thinking it might be one of the nicest days I've ever lived.
